Week 60-61

 Week 60:

Lit week!

We had 2 exchanges and we were going to have the baptisms of Eliel and Angel, but we didn't because  they aren't ready yet  to get baptized yet.

Rene got confirmed this week because he missed church last week.  This was Squires' last week in the mision so he told all of his friends that he used to teach, to come to church for his last Sunday and they all came!  There were lots of investigators in church that day and it was lit!

Week 61:
Squires last p-day on the mission so we went crazy buying a bunch of Dominican stuff.
We had Interviews with President.  It was a good experience and he helped me a lot with some questions I had.

Later we had 2 more exchanges and then we had a baptism! Our friend Eddie got baptized,  a little story,  10 minutes before his baptism he calls us and tells us that his mom said he can't get baptized, so we run over to his house and talk with his mom.  She tells us that "he is a spoiled kid and he can't get baptized" So it turns out what really happened with Eddie is that a neighbor came by their house and told his mom that if he gets baptized, the Devil will possess him.  Spooked the mom then she made up that excuse.  But we took care of that💪 We helped her see that devils won't possess her son and so then she said he could get baptized.

 We got transfer news!
So Squires left and my new Companion is Elder Driscoll!
Homies lit and a great missionary.  Really excited for what's to come!

I had a good exchange with Elder Hansen this week.  We talked a lot about conversion and growing and keeping a testimony.  We both talked about how there is a big pattern in our spiritual progression.  There are weeks, days and maybe months where we feel really good about our testimonies. And there are other times where you don't feel good about anything and you ask yourself if it's worth it or maybe if you got it wrong because there are hardships in our lives.  He shared with me this scripture that completely changed my perspective:

Ether 2: 24-25

24 For behold, ye shall be as a whale in the midst of the sea; for the mountain waves shall dash upon you. Nevertheless, I will bring you up again out of the depths of the sea; for the winds have gone forth out of my mouth, and also the rains and the floods have I sent forth
25 And behold, I prepare you against these things; for ye cannot cross this great deep save I prepare you against the waves of the sea, and the winds which have gone forth, and the floods which shall come. Therefore what will ye that I should prepare for you that ye may have light when ye are swallowed up in the depths of the sea?

As we can see, We have trials here in mortality. Lots of people think that it's only Satan that brings us hardships and what not.  But mortality does it.  Some come from choices we make, some from choices from others, and some just because it's life.   But God  prepares us to face these trails and come out of it a better person and more ready to enter into the kingdom of God. We become stronger in God.

For those of you who are struggling and think that the heavens are closed upon you.  Remember these scriptures and stay in the boat!
