Week 57
This is gonna be a long one...
This week was very busy..
Monday was pretty normal.
Tuesday we had Zone Conference and I got to direct the meeting which was pretty cool.
Wednesday we had Zone Council. My companion and I taught our zone about the things we learned in MLC last week. After that we had exchanges with La Victoria. I went with Elder Mortensen. Lit exchange, we had fun out there.
Thursday we exchanged back and we had some really long morning lessons. We didn't get back until 2pm (lunch is from 12-2:30). So we only had lunch for 20 minutes until we had to go to work again. Later that night the APs text us and tell us that the President wanted to do MLC AGAIN on Friday.
It was a pretty good MLC. We made good plans for our Zone. Then Pres bought us all Wendys🤝. Pres left early from The meeting and all of us debated about changing P-day and weekly planning day. It was pretty dope. We got back from the meeting at 2:30 and went on exchanges again for our baptism interview for Mark.
This was one of the wackiest exchanges ever. So we know that our friend Mark had some problems with his mom because she threatened that he would get kicked out of his house if he got baptized. So Mark decided to get baptized anyway.
We go to his house and he wasn't there. We called him and he told us that he got a job and he was working.! (Miracle) We go and talk with his boss and we get permission to do the interview for 10 minutes. Bueno, the interview lasted 45 minutes. Apparently there were some problems with the Word of Wisdom but we got it all figured out. Meanwhile I was talking to his boss to see if Mark had to work on Sundays. He said yes but we agreed that he would work after 3 pm so that he can go to church. PHEW.
Also... during the interview, we were in the church because it is right next to his job. While we were in the interview, the other Elders that we live with came running in the doors at top speed. I was so confused. One of the Elder ran in the bathroom and started screaming. Apparently homies lactose intolerant and he ate a Mcflurry 30 mins beforehand. Why? I don't know. He ran to the bathroom, but it was too late. He crapped his pants in the stall. It got all over his shirt, tie, Garments, socks and shoes. It was bad. Homie broke down in tears. Knowing me I was dying laughing. But they eventually got it figured out and he got new clothes. Lol.
Moving on, later that night, we visited another person who wanted to get baptized. Her name is Daniela. Her Grandpa is a member but her grandmother is Evangelica. She was screaming at Daniela telling her not to get baptized in our church because it's "from the Devil". Then, Elder Powlawski let her have it and started going off on her and telling her that she was from the Devil. It was a thrilling experience.
Later that night we got back to the house and Powlawski said that he forgot his sheets in the church. (It was like 9:25) so we booked it back to the church to try and get back in time to the house. BUT... when we got in the church we tripped the alarm and we didn't know how to stop it so eventually the alarm got so loud the police came and we had to explain the situation to them. Long story short we didn't get back on time.
Saturday: we got back from that crazy exchange and I met my comp at the church. Saturday was the day of Mark's baptism! We had to make sure that the font was cleaned and ready to go because none of the members down here take care of the font. We walked in the font and it was disgusting. There's dust, sand, dead bugs and salt stains EVERYWHERE. And it wouldn't drain. So it took us 4 1/2 hours to clean, drain it, and fill it again. (It took up our whole lunch again). While we were cleaning it, a member came with these crazy cleaning chemicals. There was this one purple one and we mixed it with bleach. Little did we know that if we mix those two chemicals together it makes a little thing called a Mustard Bomb. (Very toxic) we didn't realize that it was so toxic at first so we kept cleaning in the font. But then it smelled so toxic we had to get out of there. Apparently we breathed in too much of that gas and it damaged our lungs. Me, Squires and this member couldn't breathe for 2 hours because we breathed in too much of that mustard gas. Squires didn't feel too good so he passed out on the floor for an hour. Then we went back to cleaning. We waited for all the toxic gases to leave the church before cleaning. We got a toilet plunger and plunged the font for 15 minutes until it was able to drain. We finished around 3:30.
We had the baptism at 6pm. Nobody showed up until 6:45, classic Dominicans. Mark was barely baptized, he had to get away from his job for 15 minutes to get baptized then he went back and his boss was mad. He almost got fired but our bishop explained the situation and he kept his job.
Sunday: We leave the house an hour and a half early to go find people to go to church.
Natasha (she's supposed to get baptized next week) her mom opens the door and says that Natasha was in the hospital and she couldn't go to church. Then we pass by Mark's house. He wasn't there either! He was working. We stopped by his job and his boss tells us that if he goes to church he will get fired so we let him stay. Mark came to church right after work ended to get confirmed but the Bishop didn't want to do it. He told us to wait till next week, rip.
So church ends and we usually eat lunch at a members house, long story short the member forgot. So we had to eat in our house. In our house there was only tuna, mayo, and tortillas. So that's what we ate, and it was terrible. Never eating tuna again. At this point Squires and I are absolutely dead. So we take an hour nap before working. We started working again around 4 o'clock. We were both sick from the poison and dead but we went out anyway. We walked to the church half dead to go pick up a member to leave with us. We got to the church and the member canceled. Bru moment. But we gave it one more effort, and we called a lady that came to church. This lady has been taught for 15 weeks, 8 times going to church, but never wanted to get baptized. But with all that, she told us she wanted to get baptized!! We will baptize her Friday! After that call we went and visited another person who came to church. He also didn't want to get baptized. But we had a good lesson with him and his cousin, who's a member, and he said yes to getting baptized on Friday too!
When we got back to the house we still had to do weekly planning. Then we had to call the DLs in our zone. Then after that we had a phone call with the President and all of the ZLs until 10:30.
Then we died and went to bed. Amen
Extremely long email lol but está bien.
God loves us and we were obedient so we got tons of blessings.
