Week 9

Image
Hola!! This week has gone by in the blink of an eye. And I have more time to write so I can say more now. The food here is amazing, mainly chicken beans and rice. Love it.  BUT... I do not like one of the foods here, and I guess it's everywhere. Aguacates (avocados). They are  so bad and nobody can convince me other wise.  They taste like chewy water and that's no bueno. Tuesday: We had exchanges with the zone leaders, Elder Fairbanks and Elder Vanenzuela. I was with Elder Valenzuelain his area, Almirante.  That exchange was really fun and I learned a lot of Spanish because he's a native speaker.  During that intercambio (exchange) we put 4 people on date which was awesome.  I learned that lessons can be just as powerful even if they are really short like 10 minutes.  Also I learned to invite people to be baptized when the spirit is the strongest and it doesn't have to be at the end of a lesson. Week 8

Week 8   This week has gone by in a blur! This week we had a 3 day devotional tour with with General 70 Elder Villa Nueva. It was fantastic and it really helped me this week for talking to people.  Its kind of hard talking to people here because I don't understand them much jaja.  The spirit taught me that it doesn't matter if I can't understand them that much, because I am doing the Lord's work and I know that through my efforts, the Lord will bless me more than I could ever imagine so I am not even worried. This week my testimony about prayers has strengthen a lot! I know that God knows each and everyone of us individually and he is waiting for us to reach out to him through prayer.   Deuces  Elder LaBass

First week in the DR!

I  have officially completed my first week in the field! It's crazy here, I met my Trainor Elder Neely and he's awesome! He’s from Thousand Oaks!! I thought I knew Spanish pretty good but I don't understand much lol.  But the people here are great! So humble and open to talk to everyone!   My flight here was a bit hectic, It took off  at midnight  from Mexico and landed  at 5 am .  The first day here was awesome.  We got to hear from an area 70 and he gave us some great advice.  He basisaid that this is the greatest work on the earth and it should not be taken lightly!  My first lesson here was very interesting.  It was with a lady that reached out to us through Facebook.  During the lesson I didn't really understand much, and I talked about stuff that didn't really relate to the lesson because I had no idea what was going on jajaja.   So she was basically saying that we need to repent because we are sinners and ...
