Week 5

 Week 5 in mtc

Hola!
This was a very packed week.
Being district leader has been very awesome and it has given me the opportunity to connect with missionaries individually, and help them with whatever they are struggling with.  As it says in Mosiah 2:17.  I am only serving my God when I serve others, and it gives me great joy to help anyone I can.
On Monday I was thinking about shaving my head and then Elder Cowan confided  in me that he wanted to shave his head too.  So we got back to the house, whipped out the hair cutting material and shaved our heads.
Every Wednesday the CCM provides us with pizza for dinner.  So me and Elder Cowan decided to have a pizza eating competition.  We agreed that the loser would have to double up on their clothes the next day.  That means 2 ties 2 shirts and 2 pairs of pants.  We both ate 9 slices of pizza then called it a draw because we were both about to throw up jajaja.

On Tuesday we had a very powerful devotional from one of the area 70s.  His name was Elder Sean Douglas.  He shared about his mission experience in Chile Santiago north.  He said he was having a hard time understanding people and no body understood him.  One day he knelt down in prayer and basically asked why he wasn't getting the success that he wanted to get.  He asked why this mission was so difficult.  His answer was "are you here for yourself or are you here for me".  He said that from that day forward he gave his whole heart to the lord.  He changed his thinking, instead of thinking, why is this so hard I want people to understand me, I want baptisms. I want this I want that. To being christlike and serving others.
I learned a lot from that devotional.  When I'm in the field, I know that I will be broken down to nothing and I will always be tired,  and at moments I may want to quit.  But it's not about me and what I want, it's about bringing others to come unto Christ through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Through faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement, Baptism, and repentance.
My testimony is growing every day, and I can't wait for the challenges that I will face in the field.
Deuces
Elder LaBass
